To be, not just to seem!

Aspirationals try to seem because they are not really rich, while the glittering rich does not feel the need to display the symbols of socioeconomic superiority. That in the experience of the author.

Many farmers are rich because they adhere to the basic rule for building wealth: Whatever your income is, live below your means. This is very difficult to do when you live in a high - occupational - status, hyperconsuming neighborhood that begets even more expenses.(Stanley 2009, p. 54).
